Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to examine the relationships among covert narcissism, burnout, and experiential avoidance, and test the mediating effect of experiential avoidance in the relationship between covert narcissism and burnout. To this end, 313 elementary school teachers in Seoul and surrounding areas were recruited and asked to complete measures for covert narcissism, burnout, and acceptance and action. Using the collected data, correlational and hierarchical regression analyses were conducted. The results showed that first, there were significant positive correlations between covert narcissism and experiential avoidance, and between covert narcissism and burnout. Second, experiential avoidance partially mediated the relationship between covert narcissism and burnout. Based on the research results, implications and limitations of the present study and directions for future research are also discussed.
